At Teignmouth Community School, we want all our students to feel confident and well prepared for their exams so that they can achieve the best possible results. During their time at school they will be provided with a range of opportunities to develop their familiarity with exams, know what to expect and be able to use a range of revision skills to help them get ready. All year groups will sit formal exams so that they can develop their skills and know exactly how they are progressing. The key dates for each year group are below:
- Year 7 Exams: Week commencing 22 June 2020
- Year 8 Exams: Week commencing 22 June 2020
- Year 9 Exams: Week commencing 20 April 2020
- Year 10 Exams: Week commencing 27 January 2020
- Year 11 Exams: Week commencing 11 November 2019 (PPE), 2 March 2020 (Wave Test) and 11 May 2020 (GCSE)
- Year 12/13 Exams: Week commencing 9 December 2019 (PPE) 27 April 2020 and 11 May 2020 (GCSE & GCE)
GCSE exams finish on 18 June 2020. GCE exams finish on 23 June 2020 – Please note there are contingency days for any cancelled exams – any day up to and including Wednesday 24 June 2020

Mrs Julia Sutherland, Examination Officer | email@example.com
Mrs Sutherland has been the Examinations Officer at Teignmouth Community School for 16 years. She is responsible for informing staff and students of the latest rules from the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) which are updated each year. Every year there is an unannounced inspection by a JCQ Inspector to ensure the school and students are all following the regulations correctly. Mrs Sutherland has a Professional Level 4 Certificate in Planning and Administering External Examinations (Pearson), and a Level 4 Diploma in Administrative Management (Institute of Administrative Management).
Mrs Sutherland also manages and trains a team of externally appointed Invigilators whom the School use for invigilation of all internal and external examinations. The Invigilators are carefully selected so that they have a professional attitude, but are also sympathetic to the needs of students taking examinations who may be anxious.

Miss Goodman works part time in the Examinations Office. She shadows the Examinations Officer in all aspects of exams and assists with all aspects of the administration and running of exams throughout the year. Miss Goodman also works in Student Services. This gives her a good knowledge of the students’ behaviour and medical conditions which is essential for planning and conducting examinations so that the students have the best conditions for their individual needs within the examination rules.
- GCE A Level exam results are released on Thursday 13th August 2020
- GCSE exam results are released on Thursday 20th August 2020
Students can only collect their own results. If someone else is to collect the results that person will need signed permission from the student. Alternatively, you can leave a stamped addressed A4 envelope with the exams office and your results will be posted on results day. No results will be given out by telephone under any circumstance.If students have changed address recently or do so during July and August please inform us as soon as possible.
