Year 10 Mock Interviews
On Thursday 23rd January, we were delighted to welcome representatives from employment, further & higher education to assist with our Year 10 mock interviews. 155 pupils each received a fifteen minute one-to-one interview with one of our visitors, followed by constructive feedback on their interview technique, CV and body language.
Students appreciated the opportunity for a ‘real life’ interview and took the day extremely seriously. Several students said how nervous they were, however, they found it a really valuable experience, enabling them to approach future interviews with confidence. One student commented, “The interviewer was very kind and gave me useful feedback which I will apply in the future”.
The employers were very impressed and complimentary about the array of skills and qualities our students possess. They thought the year 10 students were extremely polite, smartly dressed, and answered their questions very well.
Joanne Hussain, Careers Leader at Teignmouth Community School said “It was wonderful to see our students so well prepared for their interviews and to hear the glowing comments from the employers on how they communicated with such confidence about their education and wide range of after school activities. We recognise the important role school plays in helping students develop their knowledge, skills and experience to enable them to go out into the world and achieve success.”
Our thanks are extended to all the representatives of local employers who gave up their time to join us for the day to conduct the interviews with our students, including The Met Office, Scott Richard Solicitors, Specsavers, Plant & Engineering Services, My Super Connector, Brite Services, Devon & Cornwall Police, Exeter City Community Trust, Bicton College and Next Steps South West.
Congratulations to the following students who were selected by interviewers as giving an ‘Outstanding Interview’.
